President Nechirvan Barzani received Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadhimi in Erbil

President Nechirvan Barzani received the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mr. Mustafa Kadhimi and his accompanying high-level delegation in Erbi.

The meeting covered a wide range of pressing issues including the latest political and security developments in Iraq, and Sunday’s missile attack on Erbil, which Iran’s Revolutionary Guards later claimed responsibility for. The President and the Prime Minister underscored that the attack is an alarming development, a flagrant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty, and an unwarranted aggression which endangers Iraq’s security, peace and stability. Prime Minister Kadhimi said that he had come to show solidarity with Erbil.

Furthermore, President Nechirvan Barzani denied there were any Israeli bases in the Kurdistan Region, rejecting the claim that the attack had targeted a secrete base in Erbil, and called it a baseless pretext.

Reaffirming their joint partnership, both sides underlined that the outcome of the investigation from the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s joint committee be made public.
